How To Utilize MTP Services

HOW TO UTILIZE MTP SERVICES
All services are confidential

INDIVIDUAL:

• Self (voluntary) referral: Any health care practitioner can contact MTP directly and obtain information about MTP. An appointment can be set up at that time for an assessment. The assessment will determine what services will best provide help and a treatment plan will be established.
• Board (Mandatory) referral: Health care practitioners can be required by their respective licensing agency to have an assessment by MTP in order to continue practicing or obtain a license, or to participate in MTP according the treatment plan established by MTP. Reports are made (with release of referent) to the licensing agency.
• Employer (Mandatory) referral: Health care practitioners can be required by their employer to be assessed by MTP in order to continue employment, or to participate in MTP according the treatment plan established by MTP. Reports are made (with release of referent) to the employer.

ASSESSMENT: At the assessment meeting with MTP clinical staff a complete assessment will be done to identify the problem and develop a plan to deal with the problem. That might include being referred to a treatment program for intensive treatment of the diagnosis, or being referred to other providers for further evaluation.

REFFERALS: MTP Clinical Staff will make referrals to appropriate resources that best reflect the assistance necessary to deal with the diagnosis. This might include, but not limited to, Treatment; Group Counseling; Therapy; 12 step self help; medical and/or psychiatric; behavioral support, work-place assistance and/or coaching; random urine drug screen testing.

TREATMENT PLAN: MTP Clinical Staff will develop a treatment plan with you. This plan will be evaluated on a period basis to assure the components of the treatment plan best meet your needs. A treatment plan may include the components identified in the assessment.

RANDOM STATWIDE URINE DRUG SCREEN TESTING: MTP utilizes a random urine drug screen program for individuals diagnosed with a substance abuse problem. The program is a color coded system, with colors reflecting the frequency of the testing. Frequency rates are from 72 tests per year to 8 tests per year. MTP randomly tests on an annual basis, meaning the number of random tests per month varies, but will not exceed the assigned yearly total. MTP uses a special random telephone line to announce the testing color for that day. Random calls are also listed on the website, under random tests, each day and remains on the website as a means of documenting when random calls were done. The calls are put on the website by a third party who calls the random line each day and then puts the message on the website, allowing for a cross reference to the actual random message. The random message can be obtained by calling 1-800-431-0090 #3, 271-0800 #3, or 341-8320 directly.

MTP also provides drug screen coordination for nurses participating in the New Mexico Nurse Diversion Program or nurses participating in agreements with the New Mexico Board of Nursing. The frequency is established by the respective agency. MTP provides the mechanism to having the drug screens collected through the MTP statewide collection sites, using the MTP random system with special colors for the frequency determined by those agencies. Both of those agencies establish their frequency of collections on a monthly, not yearly basis.
